AK’s Guide to Suits
An introduction to the finer details of menswear, and how to get them right in your… aw, hell, why am I describing it here? Read the intro!
Angle cut shirt cuffs are my favourite.
Yes yes yes
I am much lazier about drawing suits and menswear than I should be given my love for the subject.
I was never taught this shit growing up. I’ve been wearing thrift store approximations of men’s suits since even before I knew I wasn’t a girl. I will freely admit, though I love everything to do with suits, it sometimes (though less these days) seems like men’s fashion is just blur of indistinguishable tiny details that add up to grand faux pas when you get them wrong. I’m lucky no one on the West Coast seems to give a damn, or I’d never be able to go out in public.
From what I understand, getting them RIGHT just involves having money (or a tailor in the family/friend circle, or a lot of patience). But that’s no excuse for drawing them incorrectly. Drawing different suits appropriate to their time period and occasion is one of the things I’ve been trying like mad to improve in my art, right after limbs… motherfucking limbs and their wily ways…
